Domestic violence could occur in any relationship. It includes incident of threatening behavior, violence or abuse between adults regardless of gender or sexuality and could occur between family members, partners, friends or acquaintances living in the same household.
 
Acts of domestic violence may include verbal or physical threats, harassment, bodily injury, sexual assaults or destruction of personal property. A domestic violence charge carries stiff penalties, including the loss of your right to own a firearm,fines, probation or even jail time for a first offense.
